"mood - blind"
prototype for interactive blinds, reflecting the user`s mood by playing music

The user can make the blinds play music according to his interaction, by changing the height and the tilt angle of the slats. I assume the user to be in an agile and cheerful mood when the blinds are raised. Lowering them the user can choose between either calm music to relax or party music to dance. The genre can be changed through tilting the slats inwards (the user wants to be by his own) or outwards (the user wants to party). The tilting is done by rotating the rod.

THE VOLUME

Through modulating the blinds height the user can regulate the volume. The song will be played the loudest when the user chooses final positions (completely up or down). Bringing the blinds towards the middle of the height the volume lowers continuously. Thus, the user does not hear anything when the blinds are right in the middle.

SKIP MUSIC

By shortly pulling twice at the string the user can skip forward to the next song.
THE INTERACTION
tilting the slats and pulling up or down the blinds
... realised with a tilt sensor measuring the tilt angle and an infrared sensor checking the height of the blinds.
