Prime: Strategy Cards

Priming, a psychological concept, involves using subtle cues or stimuli to indirectly or subconsciously influence certain thoughts and behaviours in people.

Developed by the Design Incubation Centre in the National University of Singapore, these cards were initially used as an ideation tool for a two-day workshop, where participants looked at priming through the lens of education, with the aim of improving teaching and learning experiences in the classroom.

The Strategy Cards categorize priming methods into 3 main groups: Cognitive, Environmental, and Physiological.

The front face of every card presents an actionable strategy that users can try to adopt to their own needs, while the back provides questions to provoke deeper thought, as well as real-life examples of that particular priming method.

Designed by Naroth Murali and Gloria Ngiam.
The old cards were redesigned from large "hanging" styled cards to a deck which could be more mobile and accessible.

The following documents the process of redesigning them to be more legible up close and personal, as well at to be designed to be mass market and consumer-friendly.
Experimentation with various fonts, sizes, and graphical variations
The reverse of the cards feature warm illustrations by Gloria Ngiam, and detail examples and sources from which the strategies were derived from.
Each set of cards come with 33 Strategy Cards, as well as a User Guide, which details the various ways the cards can be used.
