smart_cart is the first intelligent, autonomous and gesture-controlled shopping cart that will eventually revolutionize everyday shopping. To use smart_cart, you must initially sign in with a so-called smart_id, which is an electronic cart chip. The user typically leaves the smart_id in his pocket, enabling smart_cart to automatically pair as soon as the smart_id is within reach. A screen attached to the cart offers the user an optional walkthrough tutorial at first use and shows useful information while shopping, for example a map of the store to quickly find what you are looking for. With freehand gestures that control smart_cart, the user can navigate through the store (left, right, stop & go) as well as adjust the overall height of the cart.

smart_cart is picked up at a so-called smart_dock, a noble architecture made of glass. This is also where it charges by induction after use which is indicated by a pink light ring on the bottom.
