now.05

The now. series is a twist on corporate publishing. And now.05 makes no exception to that.

For this issue we delved into the science of Behavioral Economics, and thereby discovered the absurdity of human decision making and the importance of emotions. With Dan Ariely and Ernst Fehr, we managed to involve two of the most influential experts in Behavioral Economics in our content creation.

As with our previous issues, the fifth edition of the now. books acts as a conversation starter.
Only this time, the conversation starts that minute you get your copy out of the mailbox.

The packaging is inspired by traditional book shipping, and we love it for two reasons. Firstly: It turns the book into an instant self-mailer. Label it, stamp it, off you go! Secondly: It allows us to start the visual storytelling at a very early stage. The packaging introduces a character who acts as a metaphor for the programmed yet emotion-driven human kind. He reappears on the cover and on the transition pages of the book.

For the content we collaborated with German journalist Thomas Ramge, had conversations with the leading scientists in Behavioral Economics, Dan Ariely and Ernst and Gerhard Fehr, and created pieces of writing, illustrations and a photo essay in the Orange Hive office.

The photo essay approaches the instinct of human behavior in a visual way by contrasting conceptualized digital photography with more candid Instax photos.
