change is home, sarıkeçililer

** Sarıkeçililer, which means "the ones with yellow goats", have been living in Anatolian mountains for at least 1000 years. Although some of them have already settled in villages, most of them are still nomads in spite of the challenges mostly caused by the government.
** Instead of protecting them and their flock, Turkish government does its best to destroy their culture of a thousand years by limiting their water, exiling them from their own mountains to settled regions. These nomads have a sustainable way of life that's why the government is afraid of them. At the last gathering of Sarıkeçili yoruks which took place in Karaman, the mayor of Karaman took what he allowed Sarıkeçililer to use during the activity such as the lights, tents, water supply tank and generator. We were not suprised because the government was criticised by the speakers.
** I would like to show you some moments that I captured from my visit to Karaman.
** Although the photographs below share a common theme, each picture should be evaluated differently as each of them has a different story.
