from generic Ikea children chair to storytelling of childhood motivation
Kevin T. O’Callaghan gave the first year SVA MFAD student a child’s Ikea chair and a photo of a historic person as a child — they did not know who the picture was. They were asked to re-imagine the chair to make a statement about the childhood motivations that led them to become what they became as adults -good and bad.
I got Frank Llyod Wright children photo and this is his childhood motivation chair the way I imagine it.
I disassembled the Ikea chair and reconstructed its pieces into hundreds of architectural studies that eventually extracted into one final design
