This photo series was taken earlier this year while hiking in the Cordillera Huayhuash, a small mountain chain within the Peruvian Andes. This sparsely populated region hosts several glaciated peaks reaching over 6,600m as well as powder blue lakes, hot springs & ample opportunities to sight condors, llamas & alpacas.
The seclusion & rugged beauty helps make the 180km hiking circuit "the best alpine trek in the world" which was indeed a challenge due to the fickle weather, multiple 4600-5000m mountain passes & scant opportunities to resupply.
