Paul Rand is one of my favorite designers. To create his portrait, I digitally created 3 different layers (one for each color) as a reference. I used the reduction method of printing, meaning I used screen filler to hand-paint the areas I did not want the ink printed for each layer. First, I painted all the white spots in the image with screen filler, and then printed the orange layer. Then, I added more screen filler to the screen, in the areas I wanted to remain orange, and then printed the red layer. Finally, I added more screen filler to the screen, in the areas I wanted to remain red, and then printed the purple layer. I registered using pin registration.
