TEDx Vancouver is a local, self-organized conference affiliated with the TED Talks. For my graduate project at VFS Digital Design, I was fortunate enough to work with the founders of the TEDx Vancouver Conference in the creation of their motion graphics package to promote and support the event. In addition, I was able to work with TEDx Vancouver’s agency Academy to bring the 15-20 speaker intros to life.
The theme of this year’s conference was ‘The Frontier,’ which looked at the idea of exploring boundaries. The logo was based on a grid pattern that would constantly change based on an input of data. This was the starting point for much of my exploration; I wanted each of the speaker intros to have its own unique elements. I played around with several ideas, including breaking the logo down into its basic elements, and animating it with text enmeshed within it.
These are three samples of the speaker intros that were used at the conference on November 12th, followed by a Case Study of the project below.
