CSULB Sustainablity maps

Our mission is to redesign an existing map to include all sustainability options located on campus for the California State University of Long Beach. Our goal is to obtain a walking tour guide that allows the audience to take a path from one sustainability option to the next.
The biggest challenge for this project is to have a legible map with all of the sustainability options indicated as well.
Icon design.
Map layouts.
Our solution for the task is color-coding the icons and categorizing sustainability activities. To make the icons easier to identify, color-coding and simple iconic symbols are used in design. The sustainability activities are divided into three different categories: energy efficiency map, transportation map, and water conservation map. The overview map is also provided for the viewers’ convenience. All of the maps and the icons are linked together and are able to navigate as a web or mobile application.
