Troponin-I Detection Medical Handheld Device

The Project was about the Industrial Design development for the revolutionary Troponin-I testing equipment made by IIT-B Electrical lab. They were ready with the electronics and they needed the design of a handheld device which could house those components.
In a time (2008) when the testing for this heart attack sensing protein was time consuming and needed lab equipment, this portable, battery powered device I designed was destined to help faster diagnosis and aid quicker response from healthcare workers in the field.
The design required an openable test surface where a blood sample could be placed and then the analysis would be run and a display which would show the results. A Joystick allowed the user to interact with the device by navigating through the various menus.
Here are some of the initial sketches and final ideas.
The final design concept was liked and appreciated and this led to the detailing of the Packaging in 3D CAD. Market sourced components were added to this and the entire product was worked out. These were done to show first prototypes to the stakeholders and get their approvals before 3D printing and mould development.
The final 3D data was then 3D printed from Imaginarium and all the components mapping was tried and finalized. This feedback was updated into the 3D CAD model and all this was then transferred over to the client for initiating the process of mould development.
