Ocean Inhabitation : Professional Review

At the five month mark in the thesis another review was held with a number of practicing architects. In the past few months my approach has become far more refined. I am continuing to view sea level rise from the positive light, a chance for a unique architectural opportunity. How can i design a permanent dwelling that could be placed on site now but is able to survive and continue to be inhabited even when eventually inundated in rough seas? I believe the answer to this question can be found in the reappropriation of marine technology. What i intend to design is a fully adaptable and flexible amphibious dwelling system consisting of a number of attached modules with varied components to provide permanent residential accommodation for the residents of Kilbirnie even with the risk of a 2.0m rise in sea level. The following slides illustrate the progression of this system but stop short of a finalised architectural form which will be developed further over the coming months.
