Hamsa, A floating Sculpture

Hamsa

Named after the Palm Shaped ancient Amulet meaning ‘Hand of God’, Hamsa is a floating installation dedicated to the covid heroes who are doing god’s work by helping the rest of us in these confusing times. Hamsa is a helium filled mirror polished aluminum cuboid with an extruded low-poly hand, significant of the ‘helping hand’ or ‘hand of god’. The weight of the installation is focused at the fingertips to balance the solid floating piece to seem as though the hand is protecting the observer under it.
Hamsa has been designed to be a mobile installation creating a larger impact on the community, opening up avenues for dialogue and discussion as it moves from one location to the other. This hovering sculpture is made of a mirror polished aluminum and an inner rubber membrane filled with helium. A QR Code embossed on the surface of the installation connects the observer to public donation channels, completing the circle of help.
