Assembly Payments - Visual language and web design

Assembly Payments - world’s most flexible payments platform.

The client
Assembly Payments are on a mission to simplify and unify the overall commerce experience. They provide a number of digital payment solutions to both e-commerce and retail businesses. One of Australia’s fastest growing fin-tech companies, they’ve raised US$30m to date, and grown to over 100 employees.

Our task
We were tasked to take the current website and visualize a new direction for the brand. In the process modernizing and unifying the whole visual language by introducing a completely refreshed color scheme, typography system, and design treatment.
With the help of the Assembly team, we completely restructured the navigation, page-to-page communication, and overall information architecture.

The goal was to deliver a friendlier digital experience for their customers, as well as tie in all the pages within a singular and unique design language that is the new Assembly Payments.

Updating the visual language
Our first task was to update the existing visual language by introducing a new typography and color system. The idea was to define Assembly Payments as a very modern, technological and human-centric brand.

Through the process we tried various styling options, color palettes and typefaces to strive and modernise the brand as much as possible.
Creating a more human-centric design language
We focused on how Assembly Payment’s technology affects daily lives of people using it — both the business owners and their customers. Encouraging a consistent style of ‘day-to-day’ scenarios that involve Assembly Payments — such as grabbing coffee, shopping for clothes, and paying invoices online. Creating a story behind each feature made it more relatable.
Building the website
We built Assembly Payments’ new website using Webflow as the CMS. This allowed the Assembly Payments team to overcome the obstacle of requiring developers to make even small changes to the website.

The Balkan Brothers development team integrated and connected Webflow to the whole environment — laying the foundation for Assembly Payment to grow their customer base and content strategy.
The results
After just four months of work, we successfully launched a 30+ page website using Webflow.

Thanks to such our successful first collaboration, we have established an ongoing working relationship with Assembly Payments to provide both print and digital design support to future marketing initiatives.

During the project, Assembly Payments were in the process of expanding their services and growing their team. They succeeded in hiring upwards of 60 new employees, enabling them to strengthen their banking products and launch Real Time Payments. The new brand and website have been, and remain to be, an essential asset to the continued growth and success of the company.
