Kopanya Tshwane | Social Media Campaign

Kopanya Tshwane is the result of the combined efforts, knowledge and services of MIET Africa, Zakheni, and Childline Gauteng. Together they tackle the audacious goals of turning the tide on HIV, teenage pregnancy, GBV, and poverty in the districts of Soshanguve, Winterveld, Mabopane, and Ga-Rankuwa.

The Brief:
Create a brand that speaks to AGYW (adolescent girls and young women) as a trusted confidant, reliable resource and information amplifier. We needed to connect with the AGYW, their service providers and social workers, the project funders and partners, as well as the general public.

The Solution:
Social media pages where girls and young women could learn about safe sex and STI screenings (to name an example) in accessible language and ask questions in a judgement-free space. Through the pages, they became familiar with, and signed up for, the services of the Kopanya Tshwane coalition. 

From a design perspective, we incorporated a wide range of illustrations to resonate with the diverse target market. The illustrated characters allowed us to de-personalise the messages and make them relevant to anyone. We used a friendly type and tone with bold colours to make serious topics feel more accessible and attractive.
