Around 20.8% of Filipinos are living below the poverty threshold. Because of the pandemic, the drop is expected to slow down. This has a huge impact especially to the poor relying on daily wage as they are the most vulnerable to the negative shock. 

In the recent news, unemployment in the country has risen to 17.7% from 5.3% in January and 5.1% a year ago. This means that 5 million Filipinos are without work right now.
