প্রতিদিন কত ভয়াবহ ব্যাপার আমাদের চোখের সামনে দিয়ে ঘটে যায়। কোন অসহায় ব্যক্তিকে মারধোর করা, রাস্তায় মেয়েদেরকে উত্যক্ত করা, চুরি করা, যেখানে সেখানে ময়লা ফেলা আরো কত কি! অথচ আমরা এসব দেখেও না দেখার কি সুনিপুণ অভিনয় করে থাকি। ভাবি দেখলেই যদি আমাদের বিপদে পড়তে হয়; কি দরকার। অথচ আমাদের একটু সাহায্যের হাত হয়ত সেই মানুষগুলোর কষ্ট খানিকটা লাঘব করতে পারে। ব্যাপারগুলো এখন এতটাই স্বাভাবিক আমাদের কাছে যে আমরা এগুলোকে আমাদের বিনোদনের উপাদান হিসেবে গ্রহণ করেছি, ঠিক যেমনটি আমরা টেলিভিশনে একদল অভিনেতা-অভিনেত্রীর সুখ-দুঃখের দৃশ্য দেখে হাততালি বাজাই, বাস্তব জীবনেও আমরা হয়ত এর থেকে ভিন্ন কিছু নই। হয়ত এভাবেই আমরা কোন এক সময় বিপদে পড়ে অন্যের সাহায্যের আশায় তাকিয়ে থাকবো। এই সম্পূর্ণ ব্যাপারটি এই ভিডিও আর্টটির মূখ্য বিষয়।

This Video Art is focused on the idea of everyday bystanders, the inactive spectators who can’t differentiate between day and night. Every day we come across situations like woman harassment, people fighting publicly calling names, accidents, men grabbing young women publicly, killing, murdering, bullying, stealing etc. In the video the TV ‘idiot box’ is the representation of all these incidents together. On the other hand, we witness these unjust incidents as if we are blindfolded and do nothing. We often see these helpless victims and watch them suffer without extending a helping hand to lessen their suffering, we instead amuse ourselves from the situation without reflecting on the idea that we might find ourselves in a difficult situation and not have anyone to help us. Don’t be an ignorant reflection of this system, start taking action.
