KENYA
You always find something, said Kenya.
We started with one light.
To see what we could find.
One faint white light.
If we can't see ourselves, we're dependent on the gaze of others.
Only a photograph can show us certain things we can't see in a mirror.
I looked for the edge of a contour meeting the light.
Is it possible there are things about us that only others can see?
That only others can reveal?
The beauty of the human form.
We constantly immortalize it.
We take out the color to see only light and shadow.
When we close our eyes, we still see things.
We see dreams that we hope will become reality.
Why is it so difficult
to gain true confidence?
We've been given so much...
Sometimes,
in helping someone
find confidence,
you find your own.
To know yourself is a journey.
A journey that never ends.
Perhaps
our own journeys
help others.
And once
we've gone
on part
of the journey,
we can return--
With the sacred fire.
NIGHT
Aren't we made of the same stuff as stars?
