Apixa’i is a studio that understands the black hair as an identity expression and important symbol of affirmation of the black culture. The aesthetic concept and brand nomenclature were developed inspired by the movement “noite do cabelo pixaim”. It was used as a name, then, the tupi term from which the word pixaim was originated, meaning curly and voluminous hair. The dynamic isotype, on the other hand, uses the apostrophe featured in the typography, illustrating the various forms of beauty of the black hair.
Apixa’i é um estúdio que entende o cabelo negro como expressão identitária e importante símbolo de afirmação da cultura negra. O conceito estético e nomenclatura da marca foram desenvolvidos inspirados no movimento “noite do cabelo pixaim”. Foi utilizado como nome, então, o termo em tupi do qual originou-se a palavra pixaim, significando cabelo enrolado e volumoso. Já o isótipo dinâmico utiliza-se do apóstrofo presente na tipografia, ilustrando as várias formas de beleza do cabelo negro.
