This project traces the dialogue between Dr. Calvin and the robot Elvex through some key passages of Isaac Asimov’s short story, The Robot Who Dreamed.
Calvin realizes during the interrogation that Elvex is capable of dreaming and that he embodies a man who wishes to revolt against humanity with the help of robots.
During the exchange, Calvin’s questions are represented in textual form to evoke writing, thus the intellectual aspect of the human species. Elvex’s responses, represented by abstract images, gather squares of colors — each hue corresponds to a letter — that evoke the pixel, the digital, and therefore the machine.
