Magazine Covers for Two Pandemics.

Magazine Covers.

Magazine Collage on well known magazine covers inspired specifically by the two pandemics happening right now: Racism & Covid-19
Some people were homeless and some have become homeless during this Pandemic. Sadly, their new reality.
I merged the painting by the artist Titus Kaphar and one of the most famous pictures taken by Time magazine where demonstrators stood in front of Trump Tower in New York City. I placed the picture on the Woman's mouth, finally speaking out, with the sentence "a series on equality" that is the least we owe the African Americans. On the bottom right some of Titus Kaphar's words "Do not ask me to be hopeful". I put the word "Privilege" on the American Flag which is what white people have and a cutout of an NYPD officer looking away from the demonstrators.
In support of #blacklivesmatter demonstrations.
As seen, a man holding a mask to his mouth. I added a cutout of New York Time's Podcast that says: "Still Processing". If you flip the collage, it is a painting by Edward Hopper called the "Cape Cod Morning" where I separated the woman from the outside with the word "apart". I also included a cut out of a tree with a book as if the tree is reading to the woman, nature or the outside is teaching us how important it was and still is. The main title is "The Empty",  how we are all feeling right now. The 3 remaining words put together "People Praying Apart", an explanation on its own.
I switched up "The Economist" cover title to "The American View" describing the death of 100,000 Americans during this pandemic. I added a cut out of an Hermes Ad where the woman is going to a different world, in this case being after life. This included an essential worker risking his life and going on the same path as the woman did. On the right hand side the mouse is comforting the bird beside a grave.
Collage describing hunger during the pandemic. I used the picture from The New York Times showing the line ups for food banks and I kept adding layers and repetition to emphasize the hunger. I also underlined the bottom sentence:" The Money Issue".
I used the rose on Vogue magazine as a symbol to all who have passed, along with a white woman holding flowers behind her back showing that even if we never showed appreciation towards African Americans (we hid it behind our backs, in this case the flower) some of us always had respect for them.
This cover is a little political, Many of these cut outs describe the President's press conferences during this pandemic.
Covers all together.
