O tema escolhido para o trabalho foi a Indústria Criativa. O objetivo foi criar um equipamento voltado para o desenvolvimento dessa "indústria" em Porto Alegre, capital do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil.
The theme chosen for the work was Creative Industries. The goal was to create a building aimed at the development of this "industry" in Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
O terreno escolhido para o projeto está próximo ao centro histórico da cidade e possui boa acessibilidade aos demais bairros e vias arterias da capital.
Nele funcionou durante 45 anos um teatro, que foi por longo período casa da Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre. Este passado faz com que o terreno esteja na memória da cidade como um local de difusão de cultura. A escolha do sítio visou apropriar-se dessa memória para criar um equipamento aglutinador de conhecimento, trabalho e cultura, revivendo a importância do terreno para a cidade.
The site chosen for the project is close to the historic city center and has good access to other neighborhoods and major streets of the capital.
Worked on it for 45 years, a theater, which was for a long time home of the Symphony Orchestra of Porto Alegre. This last makes the land be in memory of the city as a place of cultural diffusion. The choice of the site aimed at appropriating this memory to create a unifying device of knowledge, work and culture, reviving the importance of the land to the city.
O volume da edificação foi definido pelas tensões exercidas pelo entorno e pelo próprio programa. Posicionou-se um volume mais alto no fundo do terreno, relacionando-se com o entorno existente de maior altura, e um volume mais baixo perpendicular ao primeiro volume, respeitando a altura do vizinho. Esta disposição forma um cenário para a esquina aberta que o projeto cria e respeita alinhamentos, recuos e alturas das edificações históricas que existem na região, mantendo a ambiencência que a via possui hoje.
The shape of the building was defined by the tension exerted by the environment and the program itself. A higher volume was positioned in the back of the land, relating to the existing environment of greater height. A lower volume was positioned perpendicular to the first volume, respecting the height of the neighbor. This arrangement forms a backdrop to the open corner created and respects alignments, setbacks and heights of the historic buildings that exist in the region, maintaining the ambience of the boulevard.

O acesso principal acontece na maior lateral do terreno, o que permitiu a criação de um platô para receber os usuários, funcionando como um foyer ao ar livre.
The main access happens on biggest side of the land, which allowed the creation of a plateau for receiving users, working as an outdoor foyer.

Vista da área de exposições e hall de acesso ao fundo. Percebe-se a conexão com o exterior e a variação de pés direito devido aos vazios do pavimento superior. Os vazios possibilitam exposições de esculturas maiores.

O edifício transforma-se a noite, podendo mudar de cor devido à iluminação que existe atrás das placas de concreto translúcido que compõem a fachada do volume menor.
The building transform himself at night and may change color due to light that exists behind the translucent concrete slabs which make up the exterior of the smaller volume.
