A house, for Torajan people, is not only a place to live. Moreover, the Tongkonan house is interpreted as an important part of the macro-cosmos system that they believe in. For them, a house is the center of all human activities during their life, and of course untill death.
The design was inspired by the shape of the Torajan traditional house called Tongkonan, which has an upward curved roof structure. The arch for the backrest structure utilizes a single rod of rattan, each of the tips was tied together with the others as a structure.
The tips that previously have been bent, then tied and joined face forward. Regardless of the desire to give an impression of buffalo horn, this bond also functions as a strengthening structure.
