Carry Me :: 2D Mobile Prototype

Carry Me is a short unreleased 2D mobile game prototyped in Unity by a team of two people. My role in the development was the art and the game design.
The idea was to create an endless runner/Flappy Bird-esque game with a twist.
The game is about a white owl called Hoober. Its job is to carry customers to their destinations along the path, always picking up new clients along the way after dropping the previous on their respective destination.
The image above and the one bellow, are the promotional images I created for the game.
This was a school related work, where we were supposed to come up with an idea for a mobile game prototype.
Hoober would have a stamina system, some of his customers would be really heavy and that would be noticeable in his flight.
The player would have to tap the screen faster or slower (depending on the weight of the client) in order to not fall.

I was also going to include a couple of power-ups to pick up along the run, like temporary invincibility and a dash. Those would have different visual representations.
Design of the heaviest customer, a big round rat!
Initially I thought of making the game play vertically but concluded that it would play better in a horizontal orientation, even if the screen was still vertical. The image above is the bullshot of the first idea.
