FANTASTIC NUMBERS
Besides the artwork...

Hi There!
Last time I posted my work is four years ago.
Many, many things happened in the past four years and now I am back.

I did a fashion accessories brand, made some furniture, did some freelance for music, and then I got lost, got severely depressed, struggled, disappeared in social networks. I found myself empty, immature and shallow in my art (hated everything I posted before) and gave up drawing for more than half a year. Then when I picked up my brushes after all that, a lot of things have changed including my style, my perception and my focus in art.

Enough info from the past! Anyway, from this point on, I'll start posting a bunch of new projects way more frequently with insights from my exploration in the past four years.

Hope you enjoy! Looking forward to critics and further suggestions!

FANTASTIC NUMBERS is a series of illustrations based on numbers correlating with my occasional daydreaming. We use number to describe a lot of things, but what do we use to describe numbers?
0. The number of harmony

0 is the start and also the end.
The + and the - counteracts with each other and create the perfect balance, which is 0.
While the sound of the harp usually calms me down and reminds me of the idea of harmony,
I use the elements of the instrument to illustrate the number 0.

1. The number of championship

People fight for being No.1.
We set ourself on fire and burn the passion as fuel.
We run, run, and run endlessly to achieve.

2. The number of elegance

The number 2 always reminds of the swan.
I absolutely love the elegant curve that it naturally presents.
Simple yet intricately balanced like the number.
3. The number of First Love

The number 3 is like half of the heart shape.
With a simple line connecting the starting point and the end point,
it forms a complete heart shape and a bow shape.
The  fish scales in the pattern is referenced from The Little Mermaid.
4. The number of Conductor

I learned my first conducting pattern from a song with four beats per measure,
which looks like a mirrored number 4.
In this drawing, I tried to capture how the flow of the sound and the movement of the hand comes together.
5. The number of Sunshine

My favorite month of the year is May, when the summer just started .
I use the warm and desaturated orange to represent the feeling I have for May:
delight, cozy, casual and happy.
6. The number of Exploration

Number 6 has a complete circle with a tail,
It is like a loop with a fork in a road that goes up.
You can keep traveling in the loop, or go beyond the barrier, climb up and find the light.
7. The number of Summer

Summer in the woods composes my memories for July.
Layered green colors are decorated with energetic and vigorous flowers.
7 symbolizes vitality for me.
8. The number of Endless search

If you look at number 8 horizontally, it is the symbol of infinity.
If you look at number 8 in space, it can be a mobius strip that doesn't have a start and an end.
I draw a car driving on the imperfect mobius strip which has a small gap.
Hopefully it is not gonna lead an endless trip that doesn't have a destination.
9. The number of Theatre
The number nine resembles a roll film.
So I took the inspiration from the shape, and then add a stand and a little flash light.
It is a film projector; it is an easel; it is a roll of films. It is everything.
Hope you enjoy the Fantastic number series!
There are more to come:).
