Atum Residence

The project was inspired by the mountainesque experience that already existed in the project’s location. The inspiration led to the generation of an architectural design concept that attempts to preserve this mountain experience and foster it by translating it in the architecture, eventually leading to a coherent experience between the project’s architecture and natural environment.

The mountain concept translated spatially by staggering the whole project, which allowed each unit to have its own garden with a unique view experience (including sunrise, which is significant to the mountain experience), while having two glass facades and glass handrails to maximize the experience (without sacrificing privacy). The project’s main entrance is also designed to translate the mountain concept, the entrance opening was designed as a ‘’mountain crack’’ instead of a typical door, the reception have a 11m clear height and no windows and only one skylight located beside the elevator signifying the darkness, monumentality and altitude of the mountain.

The project form and structure expression also translates the tectonic nature of the mountain’s structure. The project is all cladded with travertine marble which translated the materiality and harshness of the mountain.
In addition, the design emphasized on the significance of unique uses associated with the mountain, including waterfalls, hiking trails and roof tops, which have been translated to a small water fall in front of the entrance, infinity pools, ramps (the project is disabled friendly, with no steps and constant width in all the main circulations) and green roofs.
