River Po being the most important river in Italy needs to be preserved and enhanced, so as to retain its heritage value. The site is a strategic point in the north of the city of Picacenza as is the entrance to Emilia Romagna province over the banks of river Po.
The site has a diverse urban land use - residential, sports facilities, 2 power plants ( one of which is functional and the other is of heritage value), an industrial complex, informal fishing spots and various abandoned structures/areas. The site has various disconnected elements along its length that show potential of connecting the city to its edge by connecting people to the river Po and its natural habitat along its length.
