To meet the brief, I chose to look into the numbers surrounding Knife crime in London. 
My intensive research led me to compare the numbers between rising knife crime rates and the diminishing numbers of police officers because of police funding.

The name ‘cuts’ is therefore a dual meaning - the knife crime and the budget cuts.

The book tells the story year by year from 2010 - 2019 (the years since the conservative coalition government budget cuts after the financial crash of 2008).

The book becomes more red the more the knife crime rate increases and the police numbers decrease - as seen on the left hand side.

Each page contains inserts that explain the current climate through news reports.
