BACKGROUND /

With nearly half the world population under lock-down, the worst economic depression since the 1929 crisis, tens of thousand of victims and counting, the Coronavirus pandemic is a black swan event that has massively changed our way of life. This short video shows the consequence of the pandemic in the city of Miami and Miami Beach as people shelter at home to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

APPROACH /

A thoughtful and nostalgic track underscores these remarkable and unusual scenes, challenging us to imagine what they would normally be like. The tempo emulates the passing of time giving us cause to consider the impact of the crisis. We used sound design to create echoes of past activity and underline the stark change in our day to day life.

Making of:
Technically, there is no mandatory lock-down in South Florida at the moment. This video was filmed with all the required safety measures. Crew stayed isolated, away from people and only filmed during authorised hours (5am till 10pm) to respect the city curfew.
