OVERWATCH PENANG MAP ENVIRONMENT CONCEPT ART

Initially create this project to enter the Overwatch SEA map competition hosted by official Overwatch Facebook page.
Unfortunately I didn't manage to submit within the deadline, but it's still a good personal project.

The location I chose to design is the capital city of Penang, George Town. The city is known for its combination of beautiful heritage houses which exists since the colonial era by the British empire and modern skyscrapers. It is also well known as a food haven, widely recognized for its local delicacies.

My design concept is to show Penang as a multicultural, historical food empire. I chose our iconic Komtar building as the focus point as it's an iconic landmark that is best to represent Penang. Heritage houses co-exist with modern skyscrapers to retain the contrast yet harmony landscape view.
Hologram mamak(Hindu-Muslim) uncle brewing teh tarik and floating Hokkien Mee (Prawn broth noodle soup) to symbolize some unique food and culture from different races we share in Malaysia. I also imagined that LRT (light rail transit) will be available by then, design the station into a cat liked look to refer to our CAT (Central Area Transit) shuttle.

To conclude, I want the audience to feel that the city is a fun environment. I also further elaborate the designs of some key elements in the map.
