O Homem, o Meio e o Ambiente

CauGomez & C-Mobile Workshop

Within the scope of the partnership between ESAD Matosinhos and the National Press Museum, Cau Gomez hosted the conference Ris(c)os, Ilustração e Caricatura em Debate com o Artista Brasileiro, where he addressed his 30-year career, putting in perspective cartoon and democracy versus censorship.

This conference was part of a wider project, which involved the realization of Atelier Cau Gomez - Caricature/Cartoon Techniques - Scale, Colors and Style with 16 students developing concepts and graphic animations under the motto ‘O Homem, o Meio e o Ambiente’.

In 2016, in partnership with Maiambiente, ESAD Matosinhos created Atelier Maia - Sustainable City, in order to design graphic animation proposals for the urban waste collection trucks. This time, this challenge was extended to the projects developed at Atelier Cau Gomez.

A Revolta — the proposal I developed during the workshop, represents the uprising of nature towards mankind due to the harmful actions we have towards the environment. This illustration satirizes and criticizes the fact that everyone keeps dreaming of paradisiacal holidays, however, we still do not appreciate what surrounds us on a daily basis. The consequences of our behaviour are right in front of our eyes and yet, mankind prefers to deny how we’ve been corrupting the Earth, showcasing how ignorance and selfishness are dangerous weapons.
