INSTALLATION CONCEPT
The user's figure is the main element of the application. At a primary level, the user's figure is mapped, covering up the white field around it, which is turned into a modifying pattern. Afterwards, through the Kinect camera's sensors, it recognizes the user's left hand. As the user's hand moves, the movement modifies the existing pattern and causes the colourful rotation of the squares, in a way that reveals the user's figure.
TECHNICAL PART
The main code that was used as a base in this particular installation was the SkeletonColor of KinectV2 within the Processing software environment. Initially, the mask of the MaskFind_Users code was transferred to the SkeletonColor code. Afterwards, the code was processed with the modifying pattern and the colorful effect in a way that corresponds to the Kinect’s app context. Finally, the three different codings were combined and adapted in a way that the user can interact with the pattern’s surface with the movement of his hand.
