"The Snow Queen" by H.C.Andersen

Illustration
In my work I was interested in the theme of the fine line between humanity and bitterness. Everything is distorted and takes on new shapes in the troll’s mirror. It happens in real life, too — cruel acts are justified by necessity, and boundaries are imperceptibly blurred. This often happens unconsciously and is almost always linked to a loss of the finder human emotions. In my pictures, the Snow Queen is an image of war as the prime embodiment of cruelty. Sometimes war is a tragic necessity, but despite this, people have been fascinated by it for centuries. It is scary and attractive at the same time, like the Snow Queen. Having lost his humanity and become cold to people, Kai quickly finds himself at her mercy. He is not able to see the beauty of roses any more. Instead, he admires the flawless shape of snowflakes and the tidy rows of toy soldiers. A person with no feelings or doubts can easily integrate and fall in with someone’s rigid scheme where there is no choice,
there is only strict order.
