Iruvar (The Duo) is a 1997 Indian Tamil political drama film co-written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. Iruvar is the satirical account of the parallel rise to fame and power of MGR, the most popular actor in the history of Tamil cinema and his one time best friend Karunanidhi - former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan has done an excellent job in this film. The visuals very much resemble Tamil Nadu in the 60s and 70s. The film has won the National award for best cinematography and best supporting actor.
