Drew O'Donoghue Fund Began Research Efforts on ACC

Arthur Godsell launched his career with his parents' construction company in Long Island, NY, in 1975 as a carpenter, working his way up to eventually become president and co-owner along with his brother. In addition to his leadership of the firm, Arthur Godsell contributes to nonprofit organizations such as the Drew O'Donoghue Fund.

Named in honor of a 22-year-old who died of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) on February 14, 2014, the Drew O'Donoghue Fund provides support to research efforts for the approximately 1,000 people diagnosed with the aggressive but rare cancer each year.

These research efforts include a partnership with the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where O'Donoghue received his treatment. The ACC Research Project launched in 2015, studying the genetic components of tissue samples from ACC tumors as a way to identify the possibility of an immunotherapy approach to treatment.

As the first such pre-clinical project focused on ACC treatment, it played an important role in beginning to understand this rare type of cancer. For more information or to learn more about current research endeavors, visit www.thedrewodonoghuefund.org.
