Rescue Assistant Device (RAD) seeks to help the rescue of people who have lost their way while hiking in the forests of Costa Rica. It is a radio frequency communication system that allows the connection between a lost person and the rescuing party, simplifying the localization, and medical attention provided towards main vital signs. The need for design arises from the statistics that are shown annually in Costa Rica, which indicate that people get lost because of the difficult land relief of the country, the inexperience of hikers or even the changing climate of regions and national parks. The system will help prevent, alert and rescue lives when these emergency events occur.
