Type in Historical Context - Clarendon (2016)

This project was from Typography Class. The brief was to create 2 poster about one typeface. I chose from slab-serif classification, which was Clarendon.

Clarendon is the name of a slab-serif typeface that was released in 1845. The original Clarendon design is credited to Robert Besley. Clarendon font has proved extremely popular in many parts of the world, in particular for display applications such as posters printed with wood type. They are therefore commonly associated with wanted posters & the American Old West.

This concept is Old West layout on information board. Clarendon usually used for wanted poster in the american old west era. The infographic contains Clarendon explanation such as creator, characteristic, history, specimen, family and trivia. I used color pencils for background so it’s look like a wood wall in old west era.I burn the edge of the paper to create old paper texture.
2. Poster

Wanted poster is usually produced by police, and displayed in public places. This poster’s telling us about the fugitive Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. They are one of the famous criminal story in american old west period. Wood wall was used for background because the building from old western era was mostly made from that material.
