Second part of my housewives project - this time I dealt with Stepford Wives movie remake (2004). You can find my previous work and concept here.
Housewives project vol. 2
The remake of the original Stepford Wives movie was published in 2004. The main difference between the two versions is that in the remake version we can see a changeable relationship between women and men - it shows the games people play in a marriage where one party always wants to keep the other under. The movie presents it with the idea of entertaining so it's comic and creepy at the same time. In this version women are turned into domestic slaves by men as well - just like in the original, but finally they change back to normal and they take revenge on their husbands.
When I created this installation for the movie I focused on the games gender play in an unbalanced, unhealthy relationship in a typical American suburban environment.
