Medical Holo Ring: The Development

The scenario for my ring is based on a futuristic approach in developing a new sense for humans. I wanted this new sense to give the human body an advantage to see better. I wanted the ring to give the ability for humans to see inside living organisms, similar to or even more developed than a CT scan. Through researching about other animals senses, I've gotten a better idea in how to approach and develop the scenario for my ring. The ring will be inspired by dolphins and their ability to use sound (sonar waves) to create images in their minds.

Research
Dolphin Physiology & Sonar

Human Physiology & Ring Scenario Development
Further development of the ring's scenario in relation to human physiology and research above

Design Precedents
Focused mainly on sonar waves inspirations and its sensual movements

Concepts
Quick sketches of possible concepts for the ring

Measurements
Creating a cast of my thumb & measuring thumb and hand

I have tightly wrapped a piece of paper around my thumb to create a cone shaped mold, which I have poured paraffin wax into. To ensure that my numbers were right before creating my ring in fusion 360, I also measured my thumb and palm with a ruler.

Sides of the ring: Right, Left, Palm Side Down, Palm Side Up

Red was widely integrated in the ring to symbolise its connection to the nerves and bloodstream of the hand. The red leather material mimics the appearance of human skin. While the red glass and gold material helps to solidify the structure of the ring.
