ANDES the DECIMATOR

ANDES the DECIMATOR
A sketch done on an IPAD that would later become the design language for Andes.
Revised drawing of the previous sketch. I really wanted to simplify the design, and have more space on the armor itself without sensors, gaps, decals, vents, or injuries.
The background was a fairly late addition, as originally I planned for it to be made up of a larger dragon showcasing a much larger eye.
I'm currently trying to improve the efficency of my workflow, so here I tried something new. I decided to apply my value prior to my flats which is the opposite of my normal routine.
I really enjoy working with darker colors and tones so here I chose the opposite for the actual colors of the armor. The armor is designed to be modular. If a piece is damaged you remove that one segment and replace it with a new one. The different companies that create the armor are plastered on his sword, leg, and left arm.
Showing both the value and the colors together we get to see them in tandem.
I went in and added highlights to the lights in the armor, the glow from the dragon's eye, rim lighting and the shadows for the final render.
