The Winter Solstice is an important one of the Chinese 24 solar terms, which's carrying meanings both of natural and humanity. It's also one of the eight Chinese traditional festivals in four seasons. According to the Chinese proverb, “The hottest days will come three weeks after the Summer Solstice, and the coldest days will come one week after the Winter Solstice”. The folks will count the winter days from that day. In ancient days, wanderers would return home to celebrate the Winter Solstice, which is the so called “making the end of year at home”. In parts of southern China, it’s a common belief that “The Winter Solstice is greater than New Year’s Day.” It is even called the “Minor New Year’s Day”. All kind of this things are telling the New Year’s Day is coming very soon, and also implying the importance of the Winter Solstice. All in all, the Winter Solstice is a very traditional Chinese festival.

“Nine-nine counting calendar” is another custom held among the Chinese folks, which is made to mark cloudy or sunny everyday in the coldest days. People lie their hope in it to predict the harvest or bad crop of the next year. It’s a beautiful calendar with traditional features. The calendar consists of nine times nine, total eighty-one units, so called “Nine-nine counting calendar”. Nine days are taken as a group, and nine groups are being counted, until the eighty-first day--the end of winter.

We’re glad to inherit the cursive writing from the traditional “Nine-nine counting calendar”, as well as the “nine-counting”, holiday-drinking custom, finally to create this Creado Winter Solstice “nine-counting” gift box.
