Rabat, Exploring the Streets

The interplay of type and image in the production of an editorial project. Selection process when dealing with bulk of text and images, and the treating of form and content in the organisation of complex information if of paramount importance.

Through this experience we had the ability to experiment with page design via essential design elements such as white space, hierarchy, type, image, grid systems amongst many others. We have also focused on print effects, materials and binding.
Branding Rabat
An unconventional editorial piece that combines traditional and digital methods, serving as an Itinerary (in the form of a memorable memento) for the location of Rabat. This piece of work was created by using a mixture of ready-made type as well as handmade type (which was scanned and amended digitally). We've also made use of white a brown paper to create a different feel to the itinerary.
The map was printed on canvas as we wanted to keep the same ‘mood’ that is shown throughout the booklet. A combination of materials such as canvas, buttons and thread, were used to create a versatile style of map.
To further promote Rabat, we chose to create an online blog which features our own personal journey through this village. Targeting tourist, the blog could also be shared easily via facebook and other social network sites. The full blog can be viewed at exploringrabatmalta.blogspot.com/
A video representing the brand we've created for this itinerary.
