Book Cover Project
software: indesign and photoshop

For this project we were given an artist and a genre to pick from. With this to things in mind we had to design a book cover and come up with a title for the book.

Process:

For this project I chose the artist Michel Jean Pierre Verne. He would be writing a mystery/adventure book called Drowning in the Sea.

For my sketches I decided it would be easier to express what I wanted to do better on the computer so I just went right into it.
Letter to Word
software: illustrator

With this project we were told to think of an animal. Then think adjectives that describe said animal then chose a font that best fits the adjective that we chose. Lastly, we then modified the font further to fit the description on the word even better. Then turn that name into a brand.

Process:

The animal that I chose was an elephant. One of the adjectives that I chose to use to describe it was bulky. The font that I chose to use to describe the word is Asphalt.
I then took this font and rounded off the tops of the letter it make it seem even more bulky than it already was, but still have some of the features of an elephant.
Final Design:

I decided turned "bulky" into a fitness company.
Package Redesign
software: illustrator

For this project we had to pick a package that we felt needed a little bit work done to it. A package that we felt as though need a redesign.

I chose to the Cream of Wheat box its really hard to open. So hard that when you open it it cause a mess if you open it the wrong way. If you ever opened a box of Cream of Wheat you know exactly what I'm talking about. I decided to fix that horrible flaw.

Process:

I first thought of solving the problem by finding a better way to open the package. I made it where you could open the package from the top and gave the box a tab so its easier to open and it would be easier for the Cream of Wheat to pour out of.

Graphic Element
software: illustrator

This project consisted of using more than one grid to come up with a design that stood out. We were also allowed to pick an object to go onto the poster and words that we felt best fit the poster.

Process:

I first started out with one gird and made designs for that one and then put another gird on top of that one then designed around that gird and the one on the bottom.

Quote Poster
software: illustrator

I was told to pick the quote from a first line in a book. Also, for this poster there were certain prompts I had to design under and one of the prompts artist inspiration.

Process:

Since my quote is " It's a different color for you." I had all the stripes different colors. Then I simplified it down to two complementary colors. To but emphasis on the word different.
Calendar
software: illustrator and photoshop

With this project I was to redesign a calendar any way I wanted to. So I decided to make it fun and use cartoon characters.

Process:

I know using cartoon characters is already fun. So I thought of a for it to be fun and also make sense of it being a calendar. For each day that's when the show of the characters aired, ended, the creator of the cartoon passed away, or the releasing of a movie. This calendar is for the month of October.

Infographic
software: illustrator

With this I was allowed to pick any ethics topic that I wanted. So I chose to do ethics in advertising. What is ethically okay in advertising?

Process:

I did my research on ethics and found different categories that deal with ethics in advertising. I took the categories and simplified the definition of them to what I thought was best explained that category for ethics in advertising.

Alphabet Collage
software: none

With this project I was told to make an alphabet out of things that I use everyday.

Process:
First I started off with objects like pens, pencils, and paper clips. Boring! I took the time and think about it and I decided to use pictures. I didn't realize this is something that we see and use almost every single day.
