The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development:
In 2015 all United Nations Member States have decided on new global Sustainable Development Goals. But hardly anyone knows about them in Germany. Creative thinkers have now developed innovative campaigns in order to publicize the 17 goals. One idea is to spread them with the help of colorful beer mats that have regional dialect and typical icons for each region printed on.
Dialect creates closeness and trust, additionally it helps to translate the overarching goals into topics that affect us all.
Being a fairtrade district the Landkreis Fürth wanted to become part of this project and help to spread the SDGs. The 17 goals were translated into the Franconian dialect by local comedian Sven Bach. It was my task to design an icon for each goal.
The original icons from the UN are printed and explained on the back of each beer mat. This way the local dialect and Icons are connected to the global goals.
