NOTHING FOR FREE.
In March 2020, Pendulum streamed a live set from their studios in collaboration with Rampage Radio, teasing one of their first singles in over ten years - NOTHING FOR FREE. The lyrics and mood of the new track spoke about a battle of the ages, an army and cavalry, tension that feels like a cold war, and dying on peoples own soil.
The artwork is a play on coins (NOTHING FOR FREE) and war medals, where the opening lines of the song adorn the perimeter of the medallion. The Pendulum logo-mark sits embossed at the centre of the coin, following a tradition of Pendulum album artworks.
The coin graphic was created by photo-manipulating images of three old coins. After cleaning up the previous coin designs, the new embossing was rebuilt using a mix of vector graphics and raster effects to construct the new artwork.
The video was built using the unfinished Pendulum NOTHING FOR FREE track that was streamed on the 14th of March 2020.
