This is a study analyzing the free-surface water impact of 3D printed bird head models with embedded accelerometers and image processing tools in Matlab to determine what enables independent lineages of plunge divers to safely dive at high speeds and whether surface divers would be able to perform these high dives. Eleven similar bird head models were used in this study.
