JAN TSCHICHOLD
Designer Booklet
The publication pays homage to Jan Tschichold, a prominent designer of 20th century. His standardised modern style with Dutch angles, bars and geometric shapes, most in red colour, inspired my design.
The big letter “T” on the cover is taken from his last name “Tschichold” and his devoted life to“Typography”. Color scheme is based on his three signature colours: red, black and creamy white. Tschichold's famous design principle: Canon of page construction is applied to the grid system throughout the publication. Body copy is in Garamond font, which is the foundation font of Tschichold’s new typeface: Sabon. Header and title are in Gotham, a san-serif font that create bold contrast to the pages.
The final publication is printed offset on Ivory paper, which is a smooth and creamy paper, and perfectly bound and wrapped in the velvety red sleeve, creating a professional, book-alike finish.
