SELF-BUILT is a residence for the CNC router and a gallery celebrating digital fabrication. Due to transportation issues and construction site access difficulties, the building "erects itself" from the basement - the workshop, which is set up first, in order to provide sufficient construction process.
After the construction completion the program includes two main activities:
Private:
Workshop for furniture manufacturing using CNC router placed in the basement;
Private:
Workshop for furniture manufacturing using CNC router placed in the basement;
A scissor lift delivering the exhibits from the workshop directly to the gallery space.
Public:
Visitors come to the building to see the CNC workshop from the ground floor through the glass ventilation void
Also they can become acquainted with the process through watching presentations about this digital craft in a small cinema upstairs, as well as going to the upper gallery showcasing the real examples of highly crafted furniture delivered to the gallery directly from the workshop downstairs.
