Chirripó

Editorial

With an elevation of 3,821 meters (12,536 feet), mount Chirripó is Costa Rica’s highest mountain. Back in 1904, Augustin Blessing Presinger decided to be the first human (at least on record) to ascent to the peak, and since then, hundreds of thousands of local and international tourists have summoned the mountain located inside Chirripó National Park, famous for its ecological wealth and extremely high biodiversity.

To reach to the top and have the opportunity to see both the Caribbean and Pacific seas simultaneously, it takes a journey of 15 km (9 miles) of strenuous climb, with nearly 3000 meters (10.000 ft) of painful elevation gain, through hiking trails and unpredictable weather. It’s an easy and achievable task for any outdoor adventurer or any human with a bit of physicality, but for the rest of us couch potatoes, there’s a simpler way to get there, and it’s through the pages of this beautifully designed book.

So forget about all the dangers, effort and long walks, this is the new way to explore!
