I prefer the design language of Tom Dixon.
I appreciate his way of working and his professional path as self-made man.
Some research indicated that Dixon gets most of his inspiration by visiting factories while production techniques are the starting points of every design process.
I’ve put this into practice by visiting a foundry where they cast metal in sand moulds.
This showed the constraints and opportunities that come along with this production technique. The design of the time indicators is inpired by the minimal draft angle of 8°
used in sand casting.
